Following a hearing outside of Mamaroneck Village Court on Thursday, Richard Portale, who also represents Angelika Graswald, known as the "kayak killer," revealed that Arce is still recovering in the hospital from three gunshots wounds and that she had a knife wound to the side of her throat that required nine staples.
Arce, 28, is charged with two counts of attempted aggravated murder of a police officer, class A felonies, for a dispute at her Chestnut Avenue home on April 28 in which she is accused of attacking the two officers who were trying to save her daughter Gabriella Maria Boyd.
Portale said on the steps of the courthouse that the shooting left Arce with a perforated bowel and wounds to her arm and a leg. He also said that he is still waiting for surveillance video associated with the case.
There has been a swirl of accusations flying back and forth between lawyers and city and police officials since the child's death.
Martin Rosen, who represents Steven Boyd, Gabriella's father, claims Mamaroneck police refused to execute a court order to remove the little girl from her mother's home the day before the child died.
A cause of death has not been released for the girl's death, but officials said police officers found her severely wounded when they returned to the home the next day after receiving a call from Arce's mother.
Arce, wielding a knife, attacked the officers as they attempted to save her daughter.
Gabriella later died at the hospital. The Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office is awaiting test results before making a ruling in the child's death.
